Opera has been launched at iOS version from a Crypto Browser, designed to access web3, with a non-custodial crypto wallet built-in.
The browser previously available on Windows, Mac and Android devices.
Opera says that it created this browser for people who are already familiar with cryptocurrencies as well as newcomers. The crypto wallet built into the app supports blockchain technologies Ethereum, Polygon and Celo and Opera plans to integrate into other ecosystems. Users can buy crypto using fiat currencies and exchanges, and send and receive supported tokens. Users can also integrate an existing crypto wallet, if compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, into a built -in browser wallet.
The Crypto Browser app also includes a feature called Crypto Corner, which collects news and information about crypto, along with events, airdrops and podcasts, to help users stay up to date on the technology.
One of the goals of the Crypto Browser is to make web3 navigation as easy as Web 2, Opera said. With Crypto Browser, users can access web3 NFTs and decentralized applications, including 7,000 Polygon -supported services.
“Interest in Web3 continues to grow,” Jorgen Arnesen, Mobile’s executive vice president at Opera, said in a statement. “The Opera Crypto Browser project is built to simplify the often confusing Web3 user experience for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 must be easy to use in order to reach its potential and mass adoption.
The browser also comes with security features like an ad tracker, pop-up blocker and cookie dialog blocker. It also uses cryptocurrency mining protection to block cryptojacking scripts.
To address environmental issues regarding the high energy use of the blockchain, Opera says they are working incorporates the Ethereum Layer 2 solution, which is expected to reduce the environmental impact of the technology. In February, Opera announced that it had Layer 2 Integration to the Android Crypto Browser application. IOS apps also implement Layer 2 technology.
