Partnership with the King Oyo Foundation to develop use cases built on Stratis blockchain technology
The investment marks the beginning of Stratis Africa
Stratis has entered into a long-term partnership with the King Oyo Charitable Foundation, the current king of the Tooro Kingdom located in southwestern Uganda, with a population of approximately one million. King Oyo (Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV) is the youngest king in the world, inaugurated at the age of 3 and a half years. He is known for his keen interest in technology. The new partnership with the Uganda Industrial Research Institute created the King Oyo Science, Technology, Innovation and Industrialization park.
The partnership sees Stratis fund a new blockchain innovation center in the kingdom designed to build blockchain development knowledge and skills in the kingdom. Knowledge will be demonstrated by developing a syllabus designed to provide examples of relevant use cases for creating creativity and innovative thought processes about blockchain applications.
Stratis is a Microsoft -focused blockchain platform built from scratch using the Microsoft programming language (C #). The syllabus will use well -known development tools, such as Microsoft’s Visual Studio. Participants will also be able to use a wealth of online knowledge due to Stratis ’choice to use one of the most popular programming languages in the world. As part of the partnership, Stratis plans to find a senior team of business and technical roles in the new innovation center with a vision to improve ecosystems across Africa.
Chris Trew, Founder and CEO, Stratis comments: “We are looking forward to developing a syllabus that will be taught at the new innovation center, focusing on the use of Stratis blockchain technology. We see this investment as the beginning of Stratis Africa and plans to deploy a senior team to Uganda.” He added: “King Oyo is taking a forward -looking stance on innovation that will bring new economic opportunities to the Tooro Kingdom.”
The partners will also collaborate on the use of new blocks that could contribute to a more efficient administration of the Tooro Kingdom for the benefit of the population. A particular area of interest lies in agriculture. The kingdom of Tooro is famous for its fertile soil, sunshine and abundant rainfall. The Stratis management team has envisioned the use of the solution in agriculture and track-and-trace by introducing blockchain technology to enable new resource management facilities. This will be achieved through IoT devices that interact with Stratis Blockchain technology to create an unalterable data store, containing data related to plot usage, weather conditions, product tracking and financial details.
King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV said about the partnership: “Blockchain technology offers a new approach to managing communities and increasing efficiency. In the Tooro Kingdom, we see that blockchain immutability has significant potential, for example, for use cases in agriculture, logistics, banking and others. He continues: “I’m excited to be working with Stratis to increase knowledge and understanding throughout the kingdom.”
Stratis has seen significant growth in new applications built using basic Layer 1 blockchain technology over the last few years as developers embrace the simplicity of developing it in the world’s most popular programming language, C#. Innovations in Stratis are evolving in areas like blockchain games (20 new games developed), DeFi (Opdex decentralized exchange recently launched) and NFTs (NFT platforms without the sense of Stratisphere are now live).
About Stratis
At Stratis, our mission is to simplify the adoption of blockchain technology in existing computing environments.
To deliver on this mission, we have built a Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform that is written entirely in C # and based on the Microsoft .NET Core framework. This means that more than 10m developers around the world with C# skills can easily implement blocks in their existing technology stack.
Decentralized and highly secure, Stratis blockchain offers a suitable platform for using decentralized applications that integrate smart contracts. A value of more than USD 2 Billion has been successfully secured in the Stratis public block.
