The second phase of this year’s AV Awards review will take place at the Metaverse AV Awards-themed Virtual Experience Center.
Judges and finalists can deliver and review their presentations as their own customized avatars in a bespoke immersive environment.
Mesh for Microsoft Teams It was selected as the award’s default mixed reality platform by technical support for conference participants provided by AV Magazine’s Workplace IT team.
Mixed reality overlays not only enable collaboration, but also support interaction with the lasting 3D content provided by the final candidate.
Judges and finalists will have access to the second stage judging meeting through mixed reality glasses and supported VR headsets such as Microsoft Hololens and Oculus Quest 2.
In addition, you can join from your smartphone or laptop and collaborate using Microsoft tools in a shared holographic space.
By agreement with the jury moderators, judges and finalists who prefer Zoom’s simplicity and ease of use can choose to use the AV Awards Horizontal Workroom with Oculus Quest 2 through integration with Zoom Meetings.
Officially still in beta, it has been tested by AV Magazine in collaboration with the Zoom team of major distributors. This integration allows presenters to sketch key features of award entries and allow judges to compare notes via the Zoom whiteboard feature. The new Zoom Meetings avatar feature is also expected to provide a fun element to the otherwise serious process of determining award entries.
The AVAwards virtual environment for Mesh for Teams and Horizontal Workspaces was designed by consultancy Gravatar Events in collaboration with the Emap Publishing event development team.
