Large real estate donors have a habit of sticking to a politically moderate incumbent that they feel is doing a decent job. This year is no exception. Hochul, the incumbent in question, continues to donate from landlords and developers.
Jerry Speyer, chairman of Tishman Speyer, who owns Rockefeller Center, donated $ 50,000 to Hochul’s campaign in April. Donald Capoccia, Managing Principal of Brooklyn-based developer BFC Partners, has donated $ 25,000. James L. Dolan, who manages Madison Square Garden at the top of Pennsylvania Station, is under renovation and has donated $ 69,700.
“The real estate business is as strong as the communities in which it operates,” Rechler, one of the largest donors of former Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, said in a statement. “Governor Hokul recognizes that building a stronger community requires investing in infrastructure, focusing on quality of life and prioritizing public safety.”
Suoji announces tax return
On the day the candidate for governor faced a deadline to release funding information, Suozzi also chose to make his tax return available to reporters. In both respects, Suozzi tracks the governor.
Hochul and her husband, William J. Hochul Jr., reported this year a joint taxable income of $ 825,000, more than double the total income of Suozzi and his wife.
Hokuru, a senior executive at Delaware North, a hospitality company and state concessionaire, earned most of the couple’s income of $ 547,434 from his work at Delaware North. Joint taxable income of $ 363,494 from Suozzi and his wife Helene Suozzi includes wages of $ 152,645 (mostly from Suozzi’s parliamentary salary) and capital income of $ 136,339.
Suozzis has made a small investment, including a rental office property in Glen Cove, NY, which earned $ 18,360 in rental income in 2021. Southampton day campIt earned them $ 12,677 in passive income.
