Former North Korean propaganda artist Sun Mu is releasing an NFT collection this week! According to his official website, the artist will launch 10 NFTs via OpenSea on May 29th. This project will focus on his existing artwork, paintings and installations. He worked with blockchain planners and motion graphic designers to recreate NFT art for the general public.
NFT artist Sun Mu escapes North Korea
Sun Mu majored in art in North Korea and worked as a propaganda artist. In the late 90’s, he escaped via China, Laos and Thailand before settling in South Korea. Since graduating from the famous Korean art school, he has worked as a full-time artist. Currently, North Korean artists are releasing a wonderful NFT collection.
His art reflects his upbringing and is reminiscent of North Korean socialist propaganda art with a twist of pop art. Song Mu’s art is very critical of the North Korean government, and he uses wit and satire to emphasize this.
Some works are auctioned and others are auctioned as multi-editions at a single price. It is open to the public until June 28th.
