The Information Commissioner has issued a decision related to the correspondence of the Ministry of Finance with Gencom.
A spokesman said, “Applicants have submitted public access to information requests [PATI request] to the Headquarters of the Ministry seeking records relating to the correspondence of the Minister of Finance with Gencom, its subsidiaries and certain individuals at any given time.
“The Information Commissioner found that the Ministry Headquarters did not issue an internal review decision on the Petitioner within 6 weeks stipulated in the PATI Act. As a result, the Information Commissioner has appealed to the Ministry Headquarters to comply with the requirement to issue an internal review decision on the PATI request on or before Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
“In addition, the Information Commissioner recommends that Ministry Headquarters seek training and support to enhance the administration of PATI accountability and capacity to uphold the right of Bermudians and citizens to request access to records held by Ministry Headquarters.”
