Watch out for music videos! The Metaverse is coming for you.
Have you ever attended a Metaverse concert? Judging by the latest categories added to the MTV Video Music Awards roster, it probably should. This year’s VMA will hand out moonpersons for “best metaverse performance,” but there’s no word as to whether the award will be effectively received.
Candidates are Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, BTS, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber and Twenty One Pilot. Yes, your favorite is playing in the Metaverse.
Each artist has added a unique twist to the Metaverse concert.Ariana Grande performed a space-themed performance FortniteWhile BLACKPINK’s surreal avatars brought their “pretty barbaric” essence PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUGB) Mobile..BTS sang the English chat toppers “Butter” and “Dance Permit” on stage Mine Craft A boy’s box-shaped avatar tried to recreate their characteristic dance moves.Meanwhile, both Charli XCX and Twenty One Pilot Roblox concert. (Note that Charli XCX’s performance is the result of a partnership with Samsung.) And Justin Bieber gave a show on Wave, a virtual entertainment platform.
And they are not the only artists playing in the Metaverse. Virtual concerts and Metaverse concerts became popular during a pandemic when live face-to-face entertainment was put on hold. However, online concerts and virtual performances stay here, especially because the Metaverse is deeply rooted in everyday life.
Its approval at the VMA suggests that Metaverse performance could even become a staple in the music industry. only time will tell.
